About This Game

Bluepoint's ground-up PS5 remake returns to the 2009 title that founded the Souls formula, the template Elden Ring later expanded. Its architecture is compartmentalised: five realms reached from a central Nexus hub, each shaped by a hidden world tendency that darkens or lightens with how a player behaves. Combat is the familiar stamina-bound exchange, punishing the panicked dodge and rewarding the patient read, with up to six players dropping in to assist or invade.

Critics received it as one of the PS5's strongest launch titles, near-unanimous in praise for the visual and technical rebuild. The friction sits with longtime fans, who argue the brighter lighting, redesigned bosses, and rerecorded orchestral score trade the original's grimy dread for cleaner, more generic dark fantasy. The 2009 structure also shows next to the Lands Between: a set of discrete levels, not an open world. For newcomers it is the most accessible door into the formula's origin; purists may prefer the muddier PS3 original.
