About This Game

Rogue Waters splits every pirate encounter into two phases: a cannon exchange that strips modules and crew from the enemy ship, then a boarding fight played as push-and-shove turn-based tactics, where slamming an enemy into spikes counts for as much as raw damage. The structure is a roguelike. Captain Cutter's cursed crew cannot stay dead, equipment resets between runs, and permanent skill trees build toward the immortal Captain Blackbone, with freed sea monsters such as the kraken joining the melee.

Reception draws one consistent line. Critics landed warm, crediting the push mechanics with genuinely refreshing the tactics formula, while players run cooler: runs blur together once the loop is learned, the cannon phase wears thin, and console reviews add bugs and rough balance. It suits tactics players wanting a themed ten to fifteen hour campaign, not roguelike devotees chasing endless variety. Rated M, it is available to trial on PS Plus Premium.
