About This Game

Project Wingman: Frontline 59 rebuilds the spirit of Ace Combat for virtual reality, a standalone combat-flight campaign of missile-dodging, canyon-hugging sorties designed to put you inside the cockpit. It leans on a strong soundtrack and a real sense of speed and scale, offered at a low price for the amount of content on hand.

Reception is sharply divided, and one thing splits it: a notoriously punishing tunnel mission with no checkpoints that many players call the campaign's low point, alongside general difficulty and some visibility issues. Those who push past it tend to rate the flying highly; those who do not bounce off hard. For committed VR pilots hungry for arcade air combat it is one of the few options on PSVR2, but it is an uneven ride rather than a polished one.
