About This Game

DOOM Eternal sharpens the reboot into something closer to a lethal puzzle. Ammo comes from the chainsaw, armor from the flame belch, health from Glory Kills, and the arenas add platforming and swing points, so combat becomes a constant loop of managing resources at a sprint. It is faster, louder and more demanding than its predecessor, with a bigger campaign and a heavier lean on the Slayer's mythology. Reception is strongly positive on the combat, visuals and score, and the game asks more of a player's hands than almost anything else in the genre. The dividing line is that same demand: the resource system all but forces specific tools in specific moments, and some encounters tip from intense into tedious. For players who want the toughest, most kinetic shooter here it delivers; anyone who found the first game already busy may bounce off.
