About This Game

Superliminal makes forced perspective a physics engine. Trapped in a surreal dream-therapy programme, the player grabs an object, moves it nearer or further, and it becomes exactly as large or small as it now appears, so a chess piece can turn into a doorway and an exit sign into a walkable ledge. Pillow Castle's 2022 puzzle game keeps discovering fresh implications for that single idea across a short, tightly authored run. Players respond warmly to the invention and the wry tone, and the recurring caveat is length: the credits arrive in a couple of hours and a few of its cleverest mechanics feel retired before they are fully explored. It is a game to be delighted by rather than stumped by, ideal for anyone who wants a puzzle box that keeps surprising over one that keeps punishing.
