Stardew Valley

A farming and life sim about inheriting a neglected plot and rebuilding it into a working home, with crops to tend, townsfolk to befriend, mines to clear, and a town to revive. Local split-screen seats up to four players on a single console, all sharing one farm, one economy, and one in-game day. Because the clock keeps running through menus and ends only when everyone sleeps, co-op becomes a quiet division of labour: one player mines while another harvests, the whole table racing the same sundown.

That shared day is the catch. It rewards coordination and turns chores into companionable teamwork, but it also tethers each player to a single pace and a cramped slice of screen, with no room to wander off independently. It suits couples, families, and friends after a relaxed common project, and frustrates anyone who would rather set their own rhythm.
