About This Game

Sea of Thieves is a shared-world pirate sandbox where every ship on the horizon is another crew of real players. A session is a voyage rather than a level: sails, capstan, helm and bilge pump all need a pair of hands, so a galleon crewed by four becomes a comedy of shouted instructions and flooding decks. That improvised chaos is the product, and Rare has spent years deepening it with new content.

It divides on a single axis. With a crew of friends it has few rivals for generating stories worth retelling. Solo, or with strangers, the same openness that makes an ambush thrilling makes it merciless, and the stretches between them start to feel like grind. It is a game bought for the company kept as much as the sea sailed.
