About This Game

Descended from LittleBigPlanet but trading that series' build-it-yourself tools for tight, hand-crafted Mario-style stages, Sackboy: A Big Adventure is engineered around the couch. Local play scales to four, drops players in and out without pausing the run, and laces collectibles and a set of co-op-exclusive levels through the campaign so a full room always has a shared goal, stages that turn on genuine teamwork, throwing each other to high ledges and hitting switches together.

That design is also the trade-off. Those co-op-only stages are near-impossible solo, and guest players surrender their cosmetics for the session, so the game clearly wants a second controller in hand. As a family or casual-group platformer it's one of the most generous picks on PS Plus Extra; solo purists chasing a self-contained platformer will feel the design constantly nudging them toward company they may not have.
