Police Stories is a top-down tactical shooter that trades Hotline Miami speed for the patience of SWAT 4. Each room demands identification before force: fire a warning shot, order a suspect to the ground, or close in for a melee takedown, and pull the trigger only when a raised gun leaves no other option. Randomised suspects, hostages and evidence stop breaches from being memorised, while under-door cameras, breach charges and a commandable partner reward planning over reflex.
Played solo you direct partner Rick Jones; played in two-player co-op, that coordination becomes the whole point, and the real-time scoring that penalises reckless shooting turns a clean entry into a genuine reward. Reception leans firmly positive on the tension and the co-op, and the caveat is consistent: the enemy AI can behave erratically and the difficulty spikes, sharpening an already steep learning curve. It suits a pair who want to be tested and clear a room together, far less so anyone hoping for a forgiving solo shooter.
Single Player Only
Overall player feedback for Police Stories is highly positive, with many players enjoying the tactical gameplay, co-op experience, and the game's unique vibe. However, there are significant criticisms regarding the AI's performance and gameplay repetitiveness.
