Metaphor: ReFantazio is a fantasy RPG built around an election. The throne goes to whoever wins the people's support, so the protagonist campaigns across a continent of stratified tribes while an archetype class system reshapes what the party can do between stops.
The framing is the point. Where the studio's earlier work used a school calendar to create pressure, Metaphor uses a political campaign and a deadline, and its themes of prejudice and anxiety sit on the surface of the text rather than beneath it. Dungeon design is the conventional part, which is the fair criticism, but the writing and the archetype system carry the game comfortably past it. Included with PlayStation Plus Premium.

Overall, player feedback for Metaphor: ReFantazio is highly polarized, with some praising its visuals, character depth, and emotional themes, while others criticize its poor pacing, narrative choices, and comparison to other Atlus titles like Persona. The game appears to cater well to dedicated fans of the JRPG genre, especially those familiar with Atlus' previous works, but struggles with newcomers and mixed expectations regarding gameplay mechanics and story depth.
