What to bring to Intisuyu
The class column tells you most of what you need. Every species sits between class 1 and class 7, and nothing on the reserve is class 8 or 9, so the heaviest ammunition in the game never has a target here. One Steam reviewer makes the same point from the other side: with nothing above class 7, the weapons they normally keep for self defense against bigger animals stay at home.
The spread is wide, though, so a full day needs three bands covered:
- Class 1 and 2: western mountain coati, greater grison, cinnamon teal and ocelot. The teal is a duck, and the Steam thread on the Featherwork Art mission has players working it with a duck caller and an electronic caller by a lake.
- Class 3 and 4: collared peccary, taruca, vicuña, whitetail deer and capybara.
- Class 5 to 7: puma, South American tapir, spectacled bear, jaguar and black caiman. This is the band that can hurt you, since the jaguars and caimans are the animals reviewers describe attacking them.
The reserve also hands you a weapon. The wiki lists the Dahler Reverse Draw CB-150 crossbow as included with the map, suited to medium prey at short range. Reviewers are not sold on it: one calls the pistol crossbow mid, and another says it is nowhere near as good as the crossbow in the separate weapon pack. One positive review recommends a .45-70 for the jungle animals plus a long range rifle for the open west, which is a sensible shape for a loadout even if you swap the exact guns.
What players like and complain about
Steam players are split, and the split is fairly even. Across all languages the add-on had 95 positive reviews out of 140 when I read them in October 2026. In the 65 English reviews, 40 were positive.
The things people like:
- The animal roster. This is the most repeated praise. Reviewers single out the tapirs, ocelots, coatis and jaguars as animals that feel different from what other reserves offer, and one calls it the most unique species list in a while.
- Two maps in one. Several reviews describe open mountains in the west giving way to dense jungle in the east, so long shots and close stalking both have a place.
- Predators that come for you. More than one reviewer tells a story about a jaguar or a black caiman attacking them, and they mean it as a compliment.
- Looks and sound. One reviewer calls it visually the most beautiful map, and another credits the sound team for the jungle feeling alive.
The complaints are about how it plays rather than what is in it, and they are the kind of fiddly problems that would wear on me fast:
- The jungle gives no cover. This is the biggest one. Several reviewers report that bushes do not conceal you, so animals spot you from far away, and one says on October 15, 2026 that the bug is known to the developers and still unfixed.
- Distant foliage looks low resolution. Reviewers describe bushes that turn into blurry blobs through a scope or rangefinder, plus floating rocks and trees.
- Crashes and bugs. Three short reviews report crashes when loading the map, and others mention the dog failing to find animals and a capybara mission they could not finish.
- Thin missions and a higher price. One reviewer says the second main mission is just three notice board jobs, and another notes new maps used to cost much less.
The Steam thread I read in full adds one more warning for completionists. The player who finished the Featherwork Art mission says it took about three months of hunting cinnamon teal, aiming for 20 a day, before the last beige duck turned up.

Should you buy Intisuyu
Buy it if you want new animals more than anything else. Ten of its 14 species are found on no other reserve, it is the only reserve with jaguar or taruca, and the jaguar has a Great One. For a hunter who is tired of the same deer on every map, that is a fantastic reason to pay.
Skip it, or wait, if your favourite way to play is quiet stalking. The concealment complaint lands hardest on that style, and it was still being reported in October 2026. At $11.99 it is also one of the dearest reserves.
If you skip it, our best theHunter: Call of the Wild maps table points to two safer picks. Emerald Coast is the best rated reserve add-on, at 88% positive, and also has a long list of species found nowhere else. Askiy Ridge Hunting Preserve is the best rated of the recent reserves, at 80% positive with 19 species and six Great Ones.

theHunter: Call of the Wild™
theHunter: Call of the Wild is the base game Intisuyu needs. The reserve is a paid add-on on top of it, priced at $11.99 on Steam in October 2026, and a player who does not own it can still hunt there by joining a host who does. Player reviews of the base game are mixed in our catalogue: people love how immersive the hunting is and resent how much of it sits behind paid add-ons.
