Races are short, tracks are built for spectacle, and strong play depends on boost timing, route choice, drifting, knockdowns, and knowing when to use TouchDrive or manual control. It is free to download on PlayStation, but it includes optional in-game purchases and random-item purchases, so new players should expect a live-service progression model.

The PlayStation version supports online races against up to 7 opponents, local split-screen for up to 4 players, Clubs, private lobbies, Career mode, limited-time events, and cross-play multiplayer. That makes it a good fit if you want quick competitive sessions, but less ideal if you want a fully offline racing campaign.

Career mode is the cleanest starting point because it introduces car classes, race objectives, nitro use, and the basic upgrade loop without forcing you into the hardest live events immediately. Early on, focus on clearing available objectives with the cars you already own. Avoid spreading credits across every new unlock just because a car looks faster on paper.

Once you understand the handling and upgrade rhythm, use daily and limited-time events to collect blueprints, credits, tokens, and packs. Events are where much of the long-term progression comes from, but they can also tempt you into chasing cars you cannot realistically finish yet. If an event requires too many upgrades or a rare car class, skip it and save resources for the next realistic opportunity.

TouchDrive is useful for learning track layouts, especially when you are still figuring out ramps, shortcuts, and nitro timing. It lets you focus on racing decisions without also managing every steering correction. Manual control gives more freedom and can be stronger once you know the track, but it also punishes sloppy drifting and wall contact.

A practical approach is to use TouchDrive while learning a route, then try manual control on tracks where you consistently understand the best racing line. Do not switch because a guide says manual is better in theory; switch when you can actually use the added control without losing speed.

Credits are easy to waste. Upgrade the cars that help you clear current Career nodes, recurring daily events, and multiplayer brackets. Prioritize cars you can star up consistently instead of pushing every vehicle to a high rank. In a free-to-play garage game, a reliable upgraded car you can actually use is often more valuable than a flashy unlock that stays underpowered.

Pay attention to class restrictions. Asphalt progression often asks for specific classes or manufacturers, so keeping one or two useful cars in each early class can be better than putting everything into a single favorite.
